Growing up in West Hartford, CT, Ari's identity was attached to playing guitar until he got to high school and joined the cross country team. He was hooked pretty quickly and ran well enough to get a spot on the roster at the University of Virginia.
While his collegiate career was anything but smooth, he broke 14 in the 5000m and set the school record in the 3000m running 7:51.
Ari's final season was cut short due to COVID so he left his graduate program to be a software engineer and chase a pro running career outside of work. An injury forced him on the bike and once he got hooked on that too, the swim soon followed.
"I realized three sports were better than one", and subsequently quit his job in January 2021 to pursue triathlon racing full-time. A year later, Ari has two pro 70.3 races under his belt and is curious to continue to figure out how good he can be in 2022 and beyond.
